Volunteer Opportunities
What might you be asked to do as a volunteer at KCFB? Here are some possible jobs you may be asked to do.

 Food Cart Runner
The first time you are here to volunteer you will probably be asked to push a food cart and deliver it to the client's car. This is the BEST way for you to understand how we operate. Food boxes are sometimes heavy so you should be able to lift 30 pounds to do this job.

 Food Station Coordinator
KCFB is set up using food stations. We need at least one volunteer to work each station: Pantry room, fresh produce, miscellaneous, bread, freezer room.

 Registration
One or two volunteers are needed each distribution day to register clients.

 Parking Lot Management
One or two volunteers are needed to manage the cars in the parking lot each distribution day.

 Van Drivers
Periodically we need drivers to pick up donations or to purchase food for distribution. Sometimes all that is needed is another body to help the driver pick up and purchase goods.

 Repackaging
Pet food is purchased in bulk and needs to be broken down into smaller packages.

 Building boxes
Boxes are often received flattened and need to be taped.

 Receiving Goods from Delivery Truck
Wednesday at 1 pm KCFB receives a delivery from Marion Polk Food Share. Many hands makes for light work when we get 3-4 pallets of food!

 Clean-up
KCFB rents space from Faith Lutheran Church for our food distribution. After each distribution we must empty the rented hall and put everything away.

 Restocking shelves
After each food service our shelves are depleted! We need to restock from inventory regularly.

 Media Coordinator
KCFB has a website and a Facebook page and coordinators are needed to keep the content updated and fresh.

Volunteers are required to go through annual food handlers training and Civil Rights training. These are available free on-line on the Marion Polk Food Share website and are quickly and easily completed. Consider Keizer Community Food Bank when your Scout troop, church group, or other organization is looking for volunteer opportunities.
